Activities Blyde River Canyon & The Panorama Route

Discover the dramatic beauty of Mpumalanga’s escarpment, where the mountains tumble down into the Lowveld below. This unforgettable full-day adventure takes in God’s Window, with its endless views, the striking rock formations of Bourke’s Luck Potholes, and the awe-inspiring Blyde River Canyon, one of the deepest in the world. Marvel at the famous Three Rondavels, feel the power of the majestic Lisbon Falls, and soak up the charm of the little town of Graskop. In the afternoon, we stop at one of the picturesque waterfalls outside Sabie — the perfect photo opportunity in a truly magical setting. Enjoy an alternate view of Blyde River Canyon and board the boat at 11h00 for an interpretive tour of the Dam. A qualified guide who will show you the rare, living Kadishi Tufa waterfall, which at 200m (660 feet) is the 2nd tallest Tufa waterfall on earth. An abundance of wildlife, including hippos, crocodiles, primates and a diversity of birdlife, will keep you enthralled while learning more about the natural history of the Blyde Canyon. The cruise takes about 1.5hrs and is followed by lunch (own account) before we head to Moholoholo Rehabilitation Centre for their tour at 15h00. Their experts will take you around the centre where you will learn about the rehabilitation techniques and treatment of injured, poisoned and abandoned animals & birds of prey.

At Panorama Gorge, descend 51 metres into the lush forest below in a custom-designed glass elevator by the Graskop Gorge Lift Co., where elevated wooden walkways and suspension bridges lead you along a 600-metre trail beneath the tree canopy, past the 70-metre-high Panorama Falls, and over tranquil mountain streams.
