You will camp in wild areas, parks and game reserves that are completely wild and unfenced with no facilities or equipment. Your professional safari team will set up a full camp including a mobile kitchen and dining area.

Fully serviced: This safari is a non-participation tour where your safari team will carry out all the necessary chores to keep the safari running smoothly. Head out on safari each day with your guide safe in the knowledge that when you return to camp everything will be set up ready for you. There will be guide with you at all times as well as a team (chef and camp assistants etc) in a back-up vehicle to set up / take down your camp and also prepare delicious meals.

Equipment:

Wide frame mini meru walk in tents.
One camp bed with mattress and all necessary bedding included.
Each tent has an ensuite ablution section with direct access from the tent, which includes a bucket shower and bush toilet, along with a small stand with mirror, bowl and jug for water.

Vehicle: Custom-built 4x4 safari vehicles and trailer. The safari will be supported by a back-up vehicle dedicated to set up / packing of your camp

All camping equipment for the trip duration including spacious dome tents with stretcher beds, mattresses, bed linen and en-suite bush ablutions.

Detailed itinerary

Arrive in Kasane to meet tour guide and fellow travellers and your safari departs at 12.30. This afternoon embark on a river cruise along the Chobe River, an amazing experience that allows you to get a closer look at the aquatic animals and birds not easily approached on safari. The cruise is also a great ice-breaker where everyone on the safari gets to know one another.

After the river cruise, Chobe National Park awaits. A leisurely game drive to your camp will give you great opportunities for amazing views of the sun setting over the Chobe River floodplain. You will arrive at camp just before dark, where the rest of the safari team will welcome you to your home for the next two nights. Camping will be in a private designated campsite with ensuite bush ablutions attached to each tent.

Today your morning and afternoon game drives will meander along the banks of the Chober River, followed by the call of the majestic African Fish Eagle. The Chobe River floodplain is an amazing game viewing area which attracts large herds of buffalo, elephant, zebra and other herbivores. Due to the proliferation of prey, predators are likely to be close at hand.

Today, head south, away from the Chobe River into the heart of Chobe National Park. As you continue your search for wildlife, you will traverse the drier region of Savute where bull elephants dot the plains. Savute is very well known for its predators such as lion, leopard, cheetah and even African wild dog. The Savute Channel has started flowing again after being dry for the last 30 years. The arrival of water is changing the landscape as well as accommodating different species which historically have not been able to survive in the rather arid plains of Savute. This exciting event has allowed large breeding herds of elephant as well as buffalo to visit the area. You have two days to discover this amazing part of Botswana as you embark on morning and afternoon game drives.

From Savute drive through to Khwai area of the Moremi Game Reserve, one of the best wilderness areas of Botswana and which covers swamp and dry areas. The next two days will be spent searching for the wide variety of wildlife and birds that this area is renowned for, while absorbing the sounds and beauty of this region. Game drives in the early morning as the sun rises and in the late afternoon as the sun sets will be the norm. A mokoro excursion will take you along a tributary of the Khwai River to view game from another perspective and to experience this tranquil mode of transport.

Depart early on a game drive which will take you out of Moremi / Khwai. This is your last opportunity to see the more elusive animals not yet spotted as you continue on to Maun arriving at around 12.00. Your safari ends at drop off at your lodge or at the airport.
