You have the opportunity to join this responsible tourism venture and help to plants trees in Kenya & Tanzania.

Forever Trees is the baby of Mandy & John who have over two decades experience owning an adventure travel company and leading cycle tours around the world, especially through Kenya and Tanzania.

They have developed this opportunity so they can incorporate tree planting on tours, working with schools and local plant nurseries.

Detailed itinerary

The cost of the trees you'll be planting. At approximately. AUD$2.20 per tree you get to choose how many trees you want to sponsor, or get your friends, workplace or club to chip in to sponsor some trees. Ideally if each person who jons us can sponsor 1000 trees then we can reach our target of 10,000 trees (or more) per group.

Forever Trees Reforestation Tanzania & Kenya Map

In the morning head to your first planting project at a local Nairobi school where you will work alongside the school children, teachers and parents to begin the creation of an urban micro-forest on the school grounds. The aim is to plant 500-600 trees today as you all take the first steps to bring nature back to the schoolyard. In the afternoon transfer out of the city to the next project.

On day 3, you will work in conjunction with the Kijabe Forest Trust, a community conservation organisation committed to protect, conserve and restore the Kijabe Forest. www.kijabeforest.org

Today with the help of a local team employed from nearby villages, you aim to plant over 1500 indigenous trees that will be bought from the community nursery.

Day 4 continues on from the previous days efforts, with the goal to plant another 1500 plus trees as well as learn some more about the work that the Kijabe Forest Trust has been doing for over a decade.

Today head south into the Usambara Mountains. On the way stop to check out the large community nursery where trees will be bought for the next planting project.

The Usambara Mountains is one of the most densely populated rural areas of Tanzania and only retains a very small part of the original forest that once covered this area. The planting project here is working to restore a forest reserve that was destroyed by fire in 2015. On Day 10 aim to plant at least 1500 indigenous trees.

Day 11 - You know the score! Today it’s another 1500 trees in the ground!! Once again a team of helpers will be employed from the surrounding villages to help achieve this goal.

Today you will leave the cool of the mountains and head to the Indian Ocean and the historic Arabic port town of Bagamoyo. Once a major slave trading port, Bagamoyo is a relaxed tropical coastal town, rich in culture and history.

On Day 13, you'll be planting mangroves, in the mud…… so get ready to get filthy!!! With only a 3 hour window over low tide for planting you’ll need to get busy to plant 1500 mangrove trees today.

Make the most of the rest of the day exploring Bagamoyo town and markets.

Day 14 is the last planting day of the tour. Head back out at low tide to continue with restoring the coastal mangrove forests. These forests are a vital part of the coastal ecosystem and a breeding ground for marine life, but have been decimated by decades of damage. This is your last chance to reach a total planting goal of 10,000 trees for the tour.
