Complete Botswana - 17 Days

The safari begins in Maun where your guide will meet you at 07.30 at your lodge. You will travel 120km to a private reserve on the northern border of the Central Kalahari Game Reserve. Upon arrival you will set up camp and have a safari briefing.

You will explore the area for the next two days, enjoying safari drives and a nature walk led by a local San tracker. Your safari drives will explore the area, home to a fascinating variety of desert specialised wildlife including oryx, springbok and eland as well as predators such as lion, brown hyena and cheetah. Your tracker will share intricate bush knowledge and give you an insight into the unique and complex San culture. Savour the vast open spaces, clear night skies and uninterrupted beauty.

You will wake up as the sun rises and head toward the largest game reserve in Botswana. The next three days will be spent exploring the vast landscapes of the northern region of the Kalahari. Camping is in a private designated campsite with bush ablutions.

This is your last morning in the Kalahari, after breaking camp you will go on slow drive to the Makgadikgadi area. You will spend the night at a camp perched on the edge of the Makgadikgadi National Park, overlooking the Boteti River in Khumaga village. Enjoy an afternoon safari drive into Makgadikgadi National Park.

Journey back past Maun and into the eastern fringes of the Okavango Delta, a special corner of paradise. Once you have reached the edge of the Delta, you will meet your polers from the local community with their mokoros (traditional-style dugout canoes).

Glide quietly along reed-lined channels and floodplains, taking in the spectacular scenery of this unique region as you enjoy a tranquil journey deeper into the Delta. Spend two days exploring this beautiful area with mokoro excursions and guided nature walks on the islands and floodplains,  camping wild with bush ablutions on one of the small islands of the Okavango.

On day 3, you will start making your way towards the drier regions of Moremi and camp in a concession just outside the Moremi Game Reserve.

Stay at:
Days 7 & 8: Camping on an island in the Okavango Delta with shared bush ablutions.
Day 9: Camp at a community campsite just outside of Moremi Game Reserve with shared bush ablutions.

Early on the morning of Day 4, enter Moremi Game Reserve, covering swamp and dry areas and one of the best wilderness areas of Botswana. The next three days will be spent searching for the wide variety of wildlife and birds that this area is renowned for, while absorbing the sounds and beauty of this region. Safari drives in the early morning as the sun rises, and in the late afternoon as the sun sets will be the norm. After your morning safari drive, you will return to camp for lunch and a siesta. On Day 6, you will move campsites to explore a different area of this diverse park.

Days 10 & 11: Camping in private designated campsites in Western Moremi with shared bush ablutions.
Day 12: Camping in a private designated campsite in Eastern Moremi with shared bush ablutions.

Chobe National Park, with its diverse and striking landscapes, will be your next destination. As you continue your search for wildlife, traverse the drier region of Savuti, where bull elephants dot the plains. You will then head northwards to the Chobe River, where your safari drives will meander along the banks of the river, followed by the call of the majestic African Fish Eagle.

Stay at:
Day 13: Camping in a private designated area in the Savuti area (Savuti Main or Zwei Zwei Pan) with shared bush ablutions.
Days 14 & 15: Camping in private designated areas in the northern part of the Chobe National Park, close to the riverfront, with shared bush ablutions.

After a short morning safari drive, you continue to the border of Botswana/Zimbabwe (visa required), where you will spend the night at a comfortable lodge at Victoria Falls. You will arrive in time to visit the thunderous Victoria Falls and shop for curios. A final tour dinner will be at your own expense at the lodge.
