Victoria Falls Guided Tour

No photograph can begin to depict the reality … and nothing prepares you for your first sight of the mighty Victoria Falls. The Victoria Falls reaches its peak around May each year, but is breath-taking all year round.

This tour is conducted in the morning and afternoon. You will be accompanied through the Rainforest by a qualified guide who will give a brief history of the Falls themselves as well as detailing the flora, fauna, bird & wildlife and other points of interest. Guides are also happy to assist clients with photographs whilst visiting this most spectacular of waterfalls. Raincoats are provided when needed.

Victoria Falls rainbow, helicopter flight

This fabulous flight over the Victoria Falls lives up to its name - coined by David Livingstone when he first wrote about the area surrounding the Falls: "a sight so wonderful that Angels must have gazed down on it in flight".

After take off the helicopter turns out towards the magnificent Victoria Falls, and you will fly left and right hand circuits over the Victoria Falls in both directions giving you the best viewing, photographic and filming opportunities. A trip up the Zambezi River and back over the Zambezi National Park completes your flight.

A range of other helicopter flights of varying lengths are also available.

A range of boats and dining experiences are on offer as you not only enjoy a spectular African sunset over the magical Zambeizi River but you stay on board your boat for a delicious meal.

After the sun has sunk below the river line, dinner is served with time standing still as the boat gently glides along to the sound of water lapping up against her sides. Far removed from the glare of city lights and noise, the moon and stars shine brightly in the sky and an atmosphere of mystery and romance envelopes the evening’s experience.

The Zambezi Sunset cruise is a superb way to relax and enjoy the spectacular beauty of the Zambezi River.

There are great photo opportunities against often-spectacular African sunsets. Flocks of birds skim the waterline as the sun sets behind the African skyline. Clients may have the opportunity to see a variety of animal and bird species.

A range of Sunset Cruises are available, including finger snacks, beer, wine, local spirits and soft drinks.

The penultimate adrenalin activity this heart racing, eye widening, mind blowing Zambezi white water rafting trip includes transfers from/to Victoria Falls Town, gear and lunch.

Water levels vary depending on the rains each year.

Low Water Rafting: August – December
High Water Rafting: December – August

March - June: Rafting can be closed if water levels are too high.

Note: The walk in and out of the gorge is steep and rocky. The walk out is approximately 750 feet to the top of the gorge and requires a reasonable degree of fitness.

Jet Boat below the Falls

Your 465 horsepower, specially-made Adventure Jetboat will take you up the rapids and right under the Victoria Falls into the Boiling Pot. The true power and intensity of the Falls can only be felt as you view them from below, covered in their spray. After leaving the Boiling Pot, it’s time for a fast-paced thrill ride, up and down the rapids as you speed through the Batoka Gorge.

Note: You do need to be fit enough to walk in and out of the gorge.

Gorge Swing:
Imagine swinging in a child’s swing in the playground…now imagine a giant swing 95m long and 120m high above water…now imagine a 70m free fall before you begin swinging. Stop imagining and come and try it out! You will leap off the edge of the Batoka Gorge, free falling about 70m before going into a 95m long pendulum type swing.

Zipline:
This is the longest Zipline ride in the world. Imagine the adrenalin rush traveling a speed of 106 kms hurtling 425m across the Batoka Gorge, while suspended 120m above the breath taking beauty of the Zambezi water below!

Canopy Tour

The Victoria Falls Canopy Tour offers an amazing network of ziplines, trails and rope bridge walkways within the canopy of the hardwood forest of the Zambezi gorges (the longest zipline is about 85 metres long). This tour gives you the chance to give something back to the local community in Victoria Falls. This Pay It Forward Initiative inspires positive action and allows you to enrich your journey while making a positive impact. From a list of registered charitable organizations, you will select a cause you would like to support. Armed with a list of ‘wishes’, you will be transported by a driver to various markets in the area. As you explore the stalls and meet the vendors, you will gather the items on the list and connect with local people, discover hidden gems in the less-visited parts of town, and immerse youself in a different style of grocery shopping.

You will then visit your selected organization to deliver the goods and meet the people you have helped. This experience digs beneath Victoria Falls’ surface to give you a unique insight into the town while empowering those in need.

Wildlife conservation activities

Conservation Safari

The Conservation Safari aims to raise awareness of the wildlife conservation efforts that are taking place behind the scenes in the Zambezi National Park. You will learn about the Victoria Falls Anti Poaching Unit and the challenges faced and the huge successes VFAPU has achieved to date. You are taken on a field trip into the Zambezi National Park where you are tasked to record game sightings, identify spoor, patrol and sweep for wire snares and generally visit areas to investigate for any signs of poaching. The important point is that because the clients are paying for this experience, it allows the VFAPU to visit areas that are not often patrolled and the more trips that run, the more frequently we can cover these areas. This safari effectively provides a useful presence at ground level, to deter various forms of poaching, whilst you get to play an important role in conservation efforts.

Don’t miss the opportunity to witness the spectacular sight of hundreds of vultures swooping down and feeding on leftover meat scraps and bones from the on-site restaurants in front of Victoria Falls Safari Lodge at 1pm daily.

As well as providing the opportunity for visitors to spot white headed vultures, hooded vultures, lappet faced vultures and white backed vultures, this supplementary feeding program aids the survival of these remarkable, but endangered birds.

The activity, which is free and appeals to all age groups, begins with a briefing on a deck beneath Victoria Falls Safari Lodge, about the ecological importance of vultures and the plight they are facing, before guests take a short walk down a bush path to a hide to view the vultures feeding.

The Elephant Cafe

Through the Eye of an Elephant

Immerse yourself in the journey our expert elephant carers will take you on. They will educate you, engage you and enthral you. You’ll be able to get up close, meet some of the remarkable personalities in our herd. Discover some of the unique skills and behaviours that make them the amazing creatures they are. Understand first hand some of their super-mammal powers. Then watch them in their natural environment, playing, bathing, rolling in mud and generally putting on a show at the waterhole!

Horse Riding Safari

Surrounded by National Park and wildlife areas, Victoria Falls allows access to rugged and varied riding country, providing a superb wilderness experience for all levels of rider. You may track elephant, buffalo and other game to the shady banks of the Zambezi River, or ride within feet of shy impala or kudu. Even a short novice ride provides amazing potential safari encounters and one of the best ways to view wild game in Victoria Falls. Qualified, licensed guides lead all rides and are accompanied by a back up rider.

Walking Safari

Venturing into the unfenced 57 000 hectare Zambezi National Park, this walk is combined with a game drive to a suitable walking area of the park. Whilst following in the footsteps of elephants, you are able to learn about a variety of aspects of the wildlife in the area, as the Professional Guide shares his/her knowledge and experiences with you. A walk through the bush is a great way to re-tune your senses and get a ground level experience of the park's inhabitants, large or small.
